Default Another downtown Blue Ridge cam to view

Here is another cam of downtown Blue Ridge I came across while surfing the net. This cam is stationary with a refresh of 2 to 3 seconds. It gives you a good shot of the train.

I had mentioned that I was told of another cam going up further down the street.Supposedly this rental company has partnered with a new building being constructed downtown and they have made plans to set up a cam.I have no idea when this will come into effect or if it even will.

here is the link: Tica Cabins Rentals - Downtown Blue Ridge Train Cam

A warm webcam welcome to Tica! Netcam's rock. I almost bought one of those for the feedmecam.com. Netcams power the Mt St. Helens "Volcano Cam": Mount St. Helens VolcanoCams - Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument

Fabulous shot of train traffic just in time for train season. Everybody has the best of both worlds now right? OK, you can never have enough cams--more!

CF, do you know when they went live?

Great! Wht don't they call this the "Restroom Cam"? We can now keep track of the restroom use in Blueridge!

Somehow I knew you would give this kind of response. You sound like a tough person to please. That was my first thought when I saw the cam(nice shot of the restroom).Copperheadjohn, you must look past the restroom and focus on the train.

I would say the restroom is a big hit in Blue Ridge,I'm sure it gets visited as much as the stores.

I really do love Blue Ridge and have done so since we spent our honeymoon there in 1975; hovever, I will admit I loved the old Blue Ridge much more. I hate the modernization of this once quaint little town by those who want to turn it into a suburb of Atlanta. My comments, believe it or not, are an attempt to be constructive rather than negative. I do appreciate the people who are at least trying to get this right - their hearts are in the right place! Anyone can be a critic!

Copperheadjohn,I don't find any of your comments negative. We all have a view of the way we want to remember Blue Ridge and you are certainly entitled to yours.

I would love to see some photo's of the way Blue Ridge looked in the 70's,if you have any to share.

Looks like the cam got shifted. Now we have a shot of the depot.I guess the link about the "Train cam debut" will have to be changed to the "Depot cam debut".The refresh rate appears to be alot slower as well.

I'm sure copperheadjohn's RR cam comments had absolutely nothing to do with it. It's not as easy as sticking a junk $200 Logitech webcam on your office windowsill; there are ongoing technical, legal, financial (my bandwidth charges are going up-up-up) and political issues.

When I put up the very first downtown cam, it wasn't a month before I received a call from a friend letting me know that a certain, respected local association had discussed at one of their meetings an "anonymous" letter submitted to them that essentially accused me of setting up our local citizens for sexual (child!) predation.

Of course, my next call was to my attorney which reinforced my research: no expectation of privacy in public. I showed the letter to our landlords and to their credit and my surprise basically said, "No fear, bring it on, we think it's great for BR". I was also told wiser heads prevailed at the next meeting: the cam afforded less of an opportunity than a predator sitting in a car and watching the town. If anything it probably won't happen where the cam points!

I can understand the technical and financial, but I didn't think you would have to worry about legal or political aspects.WOW

I guess in todays world you have to cover your butt no matter what.

I too think the cam is great for Blue Ridge.
