I understand that this is a potentially bad add-on which could adversely effect your personal info or introduce viruses to your computer. You have to ask yourself why it is necessary to use this to control the webcam - I'm no guru so does anyone have a good answer?

Well that just goes to show I don't know crap then.I guess I should have been reading the warnings.I had no idea that this could be harmful to your computer.It will make me think before ever doing it again.

the activeX control is perfectly safe. it's coming from the cam & is required by Axis Communications - Leader in network cameras and other IP networking solutions to view the cam's interior stream. if you prefer not to install it, hang in there; it won't be required in the near future as I'll be ustream'ng the downtown cam like the askacam.com stream at 30 FPS w/ chat.
