Smile Downtown cam has a new home!

Thanks to the guys over at Gatewood Hall, the downtown cam will soon have a new home. This location should allow for a better view of Main Street, the train, and park activities. I'm guessing it will be a huge improvement over the last location, but you never know for sure until it's installed.

Thanks to everyone that offered to host the cam, but this location is probably about the best overall view in town for a webcam. How lucky is that? Stay tuned: it's still going to take me a few weeks to complete everything.

Thumbs up Re: Downtown cam has a new home!

Hi Kip,
Thanks for the update on the cam. I've been popping in every now and then to see if the picture is changed. The lady with the baby stroller has been caught in time .

If you need an extra set of hands while doing the installation, let me know when and I'll be happy to come down and help out.
Randy

Thanks Randy, that's nice of you. This will be the highest I've installed a cam so it could be challenging for someone with a fear of structure heights. I have a friend in ATL with a cherry-picker so if I can coax him up here it will be a breeze. I will let you know, thanks and welcome!

Mr Draper,
I would like to know if you have an estimate on completion date of the new downtown cam? I am sure it will be an improvment with the new location you've described.
Thanks,

It will definitely be up-&-running before the end of the month, but hopefully it's just a matter of days now. A friend had a cherry-picker this past weekend, but I was hit with a wicked flu Friday (preesh!) that I'm just starting to kick.

He's supposed to have the truck up here again next week.

Thanks for all your efforts, Kip. I have enjoyed your cam. I also like the lake one.

I have a lake one too but it isn't as high res as yours and isn't yet on a public address. I'm adding a cam soom looking at the lake from the top of the Morganton water tank! Stay tuned for that one.

What happen to the down town cam. It sure has been a long long time getting a new home. I look for it ever day, but it is the same old picture. Please let us know if it is going to be installed. Last I read it was going to be no later than sept. 2007.
