Thanks to Randy_Norma, we're waiting for TDS, ETC, or the fire department to set a date. All three have graciously offered a "free lift" from a bucket truck, but they haven't called back to set a time.

Hopefully any day now; that's all that's holding it back and I apologize. I'd just hate to spend money renting a truck that I wouldn't know what to do with. I'd much rather throw hobby money at newer, better web cam hardware.

Welcome to the forum ga30103!

Apparently, ETC/TDS wanted money to "help out"; I already pay them several hundred bucks a month. You want to pick up the tab? Let's ride! As far as I know, we never heard back from the FD.

And I don't want to throw a couple hundred bucks and some serious liability at renting a truck that I don't know how to use among the power lines of downtown. Since you seem to be in-the-loop, get us a truck and it will be up tomorrow.

Hey Kip,

Have you thought about calling Tri-State EMC or even one of the local tree removal companies here?

Question Re: Downtown cam has a new home!

Sure have been watching and waiting a long time to see the camera up and running again. Any chances we'll get to see some of the CHRISTmas light this year even though we missed "Light UP BR"?

Yea, all my other cams are jokes too:
Aska Adventure Area | Shallowford Bridge | Toccoa River | Live Outdoor Webcam
Lake Blue Ridge Dockside Webcam
feedmecam.com - Live Backyard Bird Feeder Cam
Toccoa River Cam

When I did have the downtown cam going, I rented an office in the bldg it was attached to and it was my Internet connection. It's somewhat difficult coordinating bolting a public webcam to someone else's bldg using someone else's Internet connection using someone else's bucket truck. Frankly, I'm trying to get our new office running smoothly so it's not exactly my top priority. I did have the truck here last Saturday installing our sign but couldn't get in touch with my gracious host. It's coming.

Welcome to the forum guys.
