Angry Re: OUR LAST REPLY TO THIS:No Parking signs at the Aska Rd takeout?

I don't like this blog thing but I can not let things said about me that are not true. I don't appreciate this even being mentioned.
First off my daughter loves going down the river, she asks everyday to do it from the bridge (which we have done with her for over 15 years). Some times we take a short run down the river from the lower rocks below the large rapid and park for a min. on your property. The first time we saw your signs, paint and tape we moved our car and got in at the lower rocks (not on your property). On the fourth of July we were tubing with 42 people from the bridge. We had with us doctors, firefighter paramedic’s etc. something happened, maybe too much excitement with the large number of people and my daughter had a seizure which she has not had in over a year and a half. Regardless I NEVER LEFT HER ALONE, she was with her father as I ran one mile to the house to get a car. Yes, you may of heard her say she wanted to go home, but that was because she had just come out of the seizure and was very tried.
I am not interested in discussing this anymore and no one from my family will be commenting on your problem.

We all buy vacation homes to get away...not to have a public park or all the other mess as previously described go own in our front yard.
The only reason I mentioned the county is because in an earlier post it was stated they offered it for sale to the county. I offered it as a possible solution and allowing them tostill retain ownership. I really wish someone would name the "offending" company as I want to be sure They never see a dime of my money. We moved to the area to escape these types of issues but it seems in todays world that isn't possible. Anyone who knowingly trespasses deserves a ticket or whatever penalty is due.

Where is the police enforcement? Maybe if every one of the offending companies customers got a fine for trepassing they would rethink their business model?

Where is this "public" access at shallowford bridge? That all apears to be private as well

My bad NOTBOSTROM... please accept my apology if my previous comment was out-of-line. I thought you were suggesting the county should step in and take control...which is what some would like to see happen...mainly the folks that run these rental tube businesses.

There is no clear cut easy solution but one good first step would be to force these businesses to shut down the tube rentals. We all keep talking about the beauty of the river and how it should be perserved but think about how it looks full of tubes.

As you can imagine from my log-in name I enjoy fishing the river... I almost always have to gather trash as I float and fish. Not saying all trash comes from the rental tubers...heck...I get equally as mad when I see fishing line left on branches. I am suggesting however that to stop commercial rentals would dramatically reduce the pressure on the river.

As to access at Shallowford Bridge...I believe that is all private. And speaking of that area...take a drive up river on the other side of Shallowford and note how many "private property" signs are posted. I use to take my children just up river from the bridge to wade and get rocks but have since been run off by property owners.

Last comment...you know the county and businesses want to build up our area as the "Aska Adventure Area"...is that why we brought property along the Toccoa...so we could be part of Aska Adventure? I don't think so...we settled in this area for the beauty and peace. Maybe the property owners should all band together and stop this adventure race and the marketing of our little piece of heaven.

Laura,

I am truly very sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. I am also very sorry I misunderstood your actions. I hope you will give me the opportunity to try and apologize in person. People like you who are blessed with a special needs child must have patience, and I'm sure your patience was tested with what happen to her. I should not have let the stress of the day overflow to others. I am not trying to excuse my behavior, their is no excuse. All I can say is I'm sorry.

Sincerely,

Sidney

Kip

There does not seem to be any interest in the situation on the rocks. Well here is an update. There will be no more nice guys at the rocks.
I have had it with my family being cussed by Coleman's customers and employees for the last time. There will be a surprise for them this weekend and they will not like it.

At one time we were offered help well if anyone wants to help all they need to do is be on the rocks Saturday. If anyone wants to start trouble be on the rocks Saturday and we will be glad to have them arrested.

Some people tell us they agree with us but they don't want to get involved because they are affraid. OK those people will not be invited back when we do get controll. MAKE NO MISTAKE WE WILL REGAIN CONTROL OF OUR PROPERTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am almost 60 years old and those people who rent from Coleman at the store across the street from the bridge talk to me like I am dirt as well as his employees. All that stops now. We have tried to be nice, but we have only recieved meanest in return. I have been called a _itch as well as a few other names. I have been told they are going to beat my _ss. I will not tolerate it any longer.

If I sound angry you are wrong, I am FURIOUS. I've been cussed and threatened my last time. If anyone wants to take a stand with us for property rights and the right of people to live without fear from outsiders threats. Then we welcome your help. Colemans customers push right past us while they use vile language to discribe their anger. Quite a few of them know it is private property and tell us to _uck off.

Wake up local people this could happen to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But if it does I will be right there next to you helping you protect what is yours.

Sidney

law enforcement time? I dont like threats from anyone, local or out of towners...I might drive out to see but I'd hate to be confused with the problem...maybe I'll just drive by.

You are soooo right about off road days.

The cops have been involved, as a matter of fact they and DNR wrote over 40 citations in one weekend.

Please feel free to stop by and talk, we love meeting new folks. When all this mess is under control we certainily want to know the nice folks to invite back to the rocks. I say that because I have yet to meet a mean or nasty biker or off roader.

Have a great day and hope to see you soon.

Sidney

P.S. Welcome to the fray. Nice to hear from someone who doesn't want to argue about property rights. By the way other than off road what else do you do?

Take care

I can appreciate a good property rights struggle...off highway vehicle areas with access for street legal 4x4's are going away fast...

What do I do other than wish I was spending more time off road? I work for my business 6 days a week, wish I was spending the 7th day off, instead I usually work that day too. I've been trail riding in my Jeep twice this year and got to spend half a day playing paint ball with some friends. I really need more time off.

O.K.

Off roader and a paint ball man. Bring your wife and kids and we will have a great time with paint balls and paint ball guns.

One thing though, the oldest person gets the best hiding spots as well as a head start.

So bring your gun and balls and I and my sister and maybe my cousin, will bring ours and we will be all over these mountains having a great time.

By the way maybe someone can tell us of some locations to 4 wheel.

One more thing man you need to lighten up. At the risk of being "SNIPPED" you sound like a work a holic. Life's too short and you can't take it with you.

Take care

Sidney
