Default New to AAA (aska adventure area)

HI
We have just purchased a cabin on the river and were wondering what people did for fun in the evenings around here.?
There seems to be plenty to do in AM hours but what happens when the sun goes down over here??? Do we all stay in our cabins??
Not any bars/nightclubs? So.... what does one do if they want to listen to some music and have a ****tail or be around others who have been on the river all day or shopped til they dropped or just want to meet some new people??

Check out the Lilly Pad on Aska on Friday & Saturday nights. The last I heard, there's live bluegrass and it's quite lively for Blue Ridge. It's BYOB and a $10 cover, but you can deduct that $10 from your food tab.

Go to McCaysville on Thursday nights in the summer for "Pickn' in the Park".

Fun? FUN!?! Why in the wide wide world of sports holy tarnations are you rambling on about fun? A feller can have fun after they die. Around these parts we here work for fun. Heck after a long hard day's work I usually relax by slopp'n hogs, feed'n the chickens, & putt'n the horses back in the barn. Then for real kicks I'll grab my trusty mule, Ol' Bessy ,and begin to plow the "back 40". Usually by the time I get done with this its about 9 o'clock and Maw has got a fine spread of cornbread and pinto beans on the table. After slamm'n back a nice cold mason jar of fresh milk, me and Maw will settle down in our respective chairs and listen to Arthur Godfrey on the radio. After this I'll put some rocks that have been warming near the fire under the mattress and Maw and I will settle down for a little shut eye.

We have a potluck dinner every 3rd Saturday of the month at the shop. Its not a business thing, just social. Big deck off our apartment on the second floor. The occasional pitcher of margaritas gets blended...come over.
4820 Murphy Highway, Mineral Bluff

3rd Saturdays of the month
6pm til 11-ish usually

Its not a party but its not church either. I dont think any of the parents that come over are afraid to bring their kids. Skinned knees happen as the kids play in the back yard alot.
Most people we had was about 35 one time (including 10 venezuelans and one columbian--they were riding the OHV trails with their 4x4s and decided to come to dinner--COOL talking to them)
Least number since we made the 3rd Saturday Potluck a constant was last month...just 11 adults and 11 kids...still fun...took the kids on jeep rides down the short trails at the shop...lots of different people to talk to...music is generally mild/older rock to country, pretty quiet...

I'm usually working up to the last minute on 3rd Saturdays. Wife usually has brownies made and I get to throw bratwurst on the grill...thats our contribution...traditionally...we had 3 or 4 plates of brownies show up one night....AWESOME....one couple came from Blairsville with a crock pot full of sloppy joes...YUMMIE...

The Lilly Pad is a great spot. Actually the music is very diverse - from 70's to bluegrass and blues. The crowd is great and the atmosphere could not be nicer - very lively! Definitely a night spot in BR.
