Default Copper Hell II

Seems I was correct; the Copper Hill police force has to pay for itself by generating revenue through tickets and fines. There are tens of thousands of towns in the US the size of Copper Hill with no police force.

Polk County can handle the law enforcement needs of Copper Hill, they have an office in Ducktown.

This is a joke!

Everyone needs to get over it and get a life... Anyone who gets busted for speeding in Copperhill - and regularly drives through there - deserves it... After all, we all KNOW theres a 99.99999999999% chance that the cops will be sitting at the bottom of Polk County Hill WATCHING for speeders most times of the day or night - out of towners might have an excuse for getting a ticket, but anyone who drives that route regularly should KNOW to drive at or under the speed limit in Copperhill... I think the new Chief summed it up to a tee when he stated recently that locals are complaining because they have gone for so long without any police presence in the town watching and that's changed over the past couple of years. Welcome to the real world Copperhill..

The News-Observer even sent the editor out riding along the next weekend and he had to admit that the officers let FAR more people go than he ticketed - and that people were driving poorly through town.

Get a ticket in Copperhill? Just go pay it and quit driving like a twit and get over it.. Copperhill's tickets are cheap anyway - $130 or so - try getting one in the City of Sandy Springs, GA where I recently got one for speeding on GA 400 - that one cost me over $400!!! - and they have many, many cops driving a fleet of shiny new, fully-decked out cars out everywhere looking for traffic violations. The city was actually formed in great part because people wanted more police presence - and when they got it, people started complaining because there were suddenly more eyes watching the traffic and more tickets being written - got to take the bad with the good.

I passed through Copperhill this past Saturday(Coming from Blue Ridge)on my way to the Ocoee river. After reading in another forum about the towns speed trap,I made certain to obey all the speed limits.I usually do the speed limit but if your not use to the area and are not paying attention to the speed signs,it's easy to get caught up in this speed trap.Coming back through Copperhill I wasn't paying attention and the speed limit went from 55 to 45 coming from the hill.I'm guessing that there wasn't a car on patrol because I should have got nabbed.

I agree with John though,if you're a local, you know they're are out there hiding and you know where the speed signs are.I can see where a visitor might get caught up in this.I do know now to be on the look out and obey this little towns speed limits. It's just like being at home because we have one here in our little town.
