Default Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!

Looks like SE Tennessee will be adding a LOT of decent paying manufacturing jobs in the near-term - good news!

Whirlpool announced its adding 500 new jobs in Cleveland and Volkswagen is going to be adding approximately 2000 new jobs at their plant in the Chattanooga area over the next couple of years. That doesnt count all the additional jobs and growth that will come from related businesses and suppliers etc, which could easily multiply these figures fivefold or more. Wonder how many people from E. Polk County and the Copper Basin area will commute down there and back? Its going to be located on the NE side of Chattanooga in the I-75 corridor.

Also looks like the Volkswagen assembly plant will definitely bolster the case for fast tracking Corridor K through Polk County and the Copper Basin to move product back and forth between Chattanooga and North Carolina - to Asheville and beyond.

Now if they will just get that proposed State Park & Lodge fast tracked for Polk County. Supposedly they are trying to decide between a site in the Reliance area and another site closer to the Whitewater Center and Boyd's Gap area. Governor Bredesen apparently wants to get it underway before he leaves office. Wonder which it will be?
