Default Ski Dawsonville!

And I thought Bill Elliott was going to be the most famous thing to come out of Dawsonville. A developer wants to build a $1 billion indoor ski resort complete with ice rinks, retail, homes, etc. near GA 400 & Hwy 53. The developer mentioned Jot Em Down Rd so it sounds like it will be in that triangle looking towards the mountains. Mt. Pegasus would be the tallest and longest indoor ski hill(mountain is pushing it!) in the world.

Watch out Dubai, here comes indoor skiing southern-style; instead of headdresses and flowing robes, it's NASCAR caps, waterproof-sprayed blue jeans, and garbage bag leg warmers. Also different than Dubai, instead of having to build the altitude, the ski dome would basically enclose the mountain ridge. At least that is what Channel 2 TV is reporting.

Quote:
Called the Falls at Lanier Highland, the proposed resort would be built on land between Georgia 400 and Georgia 53. It would be a 2.1 million-square-foot project that would include retail stores and hotels and generate about 2,500 jobs.

Mount Pegasus would be an estimated $1 billion ski dome. Plans also call for two ice rinks. The proposal also includes four hotels, 30 restaurants and 800,000 square feet of shops and homes.

2500 jobs? Holy ****. Ski Dawsonville = Buy Dawsonville

HI Kip,
It will be wild sking in Ga. again, when I was a young buck (a long time ago)we would ski at the ski lodge in Vinnings,ga.,it was a BIG hill with white fake grass and little white balls, you would go real fast and if you could not stop the BIG HARD fence at the bottom would act as your brake.
Boy,those were the days!
By the way I liked the fish story,I'm sure it did the smoker proud.
talk to you soon

That is fricken hillarious.
I think it is a rather stupid idea. But so is strip malls and gated communites.

Yes Carver, it was rather nice on the smoker. I love trout when it has that salmon color to the meat, a lighter orange though. Reminds me of the Cutthroat we used to catch in snow-melt CO lakes; above 10,000 feet, the meat was almost red.

I hit that stuff in Gatlinburg when I was a kid. Fond memories when you didn't know any better.

Carver,

I rememer the big white hill in Vinnings. It was very realistic skiing - if you liked skiing on ice! The best thing about it was the view of downtown Atlanta.

Cool Re: Ski Dawsonville!

HI Steve,
We always went at night,I was never very good, but it was fun (but not the fake grass rashs!)I May have to come up with some garbage bag leg warmers.I hear they are going to use real snow in Dawsonville, I guess white fake grass is hard to come by,but if I was a white fake grass salesman and somebody said there were people in Dawsonville, with a BILLION dollars I'd be on the hunt.
