Well I may be pulling a "Dewey Wins" but it looks as if we'll have to still sip our alcohol through Brown Bags and wait for the Blue Ridge Golf & River Resort to be finished. The "Temperance Movement" may have won the battle but ultimately the war is lost.

Well the true travesty of all of this is that once again fear-mongering and illegal tax exempt funding has won out over foresight, mediation, and control.
At some point liquor will be in this county. Whether it is through a development that gives its liquor taxes directly to the State of Georgia, thereby surpassing the local coffers, or whether it is by a thunderous change in commission direction and leadership. Change is coming. It always has and always will. The problem is how are you going to control it? I want to thank everyone who participated in the vote regardless of how you feel. I'm just bummed that the citizens decided to give up control for complacency. Fight the Good Fight! Last edited by Amos and Andy : 11-07-2007 at 05:13 AM. |
