Thanks to Kip, Blue Ridge now has it's own wiki! Have you ever visited
wikipedia? Sure you have. Did you know that wikipedia is a collaborative effort, with input and editing from users all over the world? Well although we don't anticipate the Blue Ridge wiki to be as large and full of material as wikipedia, we do hope that folk will take the opportunity and advantage of this site to increase everyone's knowledge of our area in some way or another.
If you've ever typed an email, or even posted on this forum then you'll be able to do editing, add pages, and contribute to the site.
Here are some ways you can contribute
- Start a user page
- Build a family page about your families history in the area
- Upload photos and create galleries of the area
- Start a page on the history of certain places in the area, tells, stories, legends, etc...
- Post information on events, photos of events.
- Start a page about your business or home business.
- Start a page about outdoor activities in the area, hikes, trails, mountains, etc...
Best of all, it's simple, fun, and you'll learn wiki editing while you play. Then if you ever want to contribute to wikipedia, you'll know how.
Don't worry all the changes can be rolled back, so don't fret about messing anything up. Kip and I will be following changes to the site and feel free to leave messages on our user discussion pages.
Thanks and look forward to seeing your page on the wiki
