Randy_Norma have been gracious enough to allow me to horn-in on their awesome cabin concerts, first by video streaming, now by co-hosting & streaming them from our office/cabin.
The plan is to do live, video & audio streaming of cabin concerts of independent ~ acoustical ~ singer songwriter ~ artists featured on http://wholewheatradio.org on at least a quarterly basis. And perhaps local artists down-the-line. BTW, I highly recommend listening to Whole Wheat Radio by the fire in the cabin. Goes great with computer work too: Listener console - Whole Wheat Radio Wiki - Talkeetna, Alaska The first show is February 13th at 8PM and will feature Ronny Cox & Jack Williams. The second show is March 9th at 8PM and will feature A.J. Roach and Raina Rose. Due to the size constraints of the cabin, please RSVP if you plan to show up in person: blueridgecabinconcerts@gmail.com I'll be employing at lease 5 cams for the online shows, so hopefully we'll be able to provide decent or better homegrown productions for the online audience. If any ngaforum members would like to attend either event in person, we would love to have you! First show is a potluck; second show will be catered. Please RSVP me at: blueridgecabinconcerts@gmail.com if you plan on being there. And if you don't know who Ronny Cox is, you need to cue Deliverance again.

I just watched the YouTube clip, and noticed something I've never really noticed before. The banjo left hand is fretting the notes, but that's not 3-finger style playing being done with the right hand. Looks to me (look closely) like it's just thumb and index finger mainly, which would be "kinda-sorta" clawhammer style, but the song is not clawhammer style banjo. I guess I never noticed that before (probably because when this movie came out I knew nothing about banjos, and now my husband plays Scruggs 3-finger style, and good friends are clawhammer players!). I guess that's the best the poor guy having to sit behind the kid could do when he could not even see the strings he was supposed to be pickin'! Cameraman did a good job too of just tossing in a few quick shots of the right hand action. One segment has a shot of just the knuckles of the back of the hand in action - no fingers showing at all! Heck, I could do that!

Thanks Carver. Glad you caught it; I have my sound issues worked out I believe. I guess "Series" may denote that this is a temporary deal, but that's not the plan if we can bring the folks in (17 ppl on a snowy/icy nite wasn't TOO shabby) and keep the artists happy. In other words, it will be permanent if we can garner the local support.
MountainMama I never noticed that (I'm just a dumb drummer) but I asked Ronny about it during his interview with Randy & he told a great story. Randy is editing the video and I will post a link to the interview when he has it up.

I am sorry Brittany and I missed it. We had reserved a spot but decided against the traveling with the possibility of ice on the road. We will be at the next one for sure if the planets are in alignment! We did watch on line though. Great show! Thank you Kip and Randy for making the cabin concerts possible!
