I'm tooting my own whistle while I am replying to this post.......I own a small shop downtown also, BIG FROG MUSIC on East Main....and we are open 7 days a week, 360 days a year (unless we keep getting snow! haha
!!). During the winter months we do open later and close earlier (11:00 - 5:00), but we are here EVERYDAY so ya'll all just come on by and visit with us.

NOT sure why they do it??? they do it in Ellijay as well. From what i figure is back in the day if you opened on Sat. you closed on Wed. that makes sense...i guess.
But look at all the place that have closed and tell me one that was open from 9 am to 9 pm and on Sat . gonna be hard to find one. Just think of it like this.If you are on vacation you are basiclly paying to be entertained and willing to spend money to do just that. It is hard to spend your money on WED. in either BR or Ellijay, but the places that are open late and on wed. dont seem to be in the same boat as the ones that operate from 10am to noon ,close for lunch till 1pm then open again till 4:30 or 5 close on wed. ,sat, sun, and every holiday from 4th of july to Yum Kipor. If you want your buisness to stay open you have to keep it OPEN. You wonder why wal-marts,home depot, Lowes and other big stores are making money , Its cause there doors are always open to take your money. I try to spend all my money locally, from groceries to gas, I try to shop "in town" COME ON if you make your living here then go spend all your money in canton or woodstock who's economy are you helping. Small towns survived for a long time on local patrons spending local money in local stores. |
