Default Bordertown Roadhouse Restaurant

I haven't been to Blue Ridge is a quite a while. Heard there is a new restaurant in town called the Bordertown Road House? Has anyone been there? Would love to hear how it is.

IMO it is alright. Never had a bad time there and the food is good for the most part. I just HATE the atmosphere in there.

I agree with Cowboy. The food is okay but there is NO atmosphere. Also if you have any leanings toward vegetarian eating...forget it...hahaha! My wife is a veggie head and there was NOTHING there she could eat and just had to watch me eat.

That's very interesting - after reading their website, I was hoping it would be like the chain Road House Grille (we have them here in FL - not sure what other states have them).

What exactly don't you like about the atmosphere? Is it too loud or just very plain and boring?

I actually have a cabin in Blue Ridge that I rent and my guests are always asking for places to eat.

What about the Old Cabin Grille - haven't heard the best reviews on that?

If anyone on here can recommend where their favorite spots are (even if it's Ellijay or Blairesville) that would be great.

Thanks!!!

It is nothing like the chain Roadhouse Grill. Not even close. Totally different place to eat. Your tables are covered in paper like you find at a Doctors office exam room bench. A lot of time I found food laying on the floor from when they bring out the Salad Bowl and toss it right there at the table. Which brings up the salad part I do not care for at all. When I order a salad before my meal...I want my own personal salad. I DO NOT want them to bring out one big stainless steel bowl full of some lettuce and then go on to mix it up right there with big ole Tongs over our heads and plop it down in the middle of the table and ask everyone to split it up between themselves. I did not like that at all.

I have seen them send the salad flying as they mix it out of the bowl onto the floor. One time it flew out and landed right on top of my Wifes hair with dressing all in it. Boy was I mad to say the least. Do you think they pick it up? Nope. I have watched it stay right there on the floor the whole time I am eating and as I walk out of the door.

Like I said...not my kind of atmosphere or way I like to spend my time out eating with family members. The food is OK but not good enough for me to over look the other parts that are beyond belief. It is just tacky IMO to make light of a non-serious environment restaurant wise out in the public area where everyone is eating. You just don't do those things. I don't care where we are. Have some class for crying out loud. Or at least try. Even my 5 year old Son could not believe what he was seeing.

Now the staff is very friendly and do make you feel at home. Parts of it has some really great things going for it. So it is not all bad. Hope that helps.

Cabin Grille has been long gone. In its place is an Asian (primarily buffet) restaurant leaning heavily toward Japanese.

But if you haven't been watching there is now beer and wine in Blue Ridge and Fannin. Some better restaurant selections than in the past including Repaz on Main downtown and Cucina Rustica North on 515 past Rt 60. I've had great food there.

Also a brew pub starting up.

Totally agree Bill! Shoebooties is a nice romantic fine dining atmosphere with top notch food. Been there plenty of times and have never had a bad experience yet.

Totally! Shoebooties is a shorter drive for us from Mineral Bluff than Ellijay and well worth the drive. Never had a complaint on any of the food. Drinks are pretty good too. You should make a reservation before going.

Lots of bang for the buck.

Only been to Boardtown one time, party of 4 -- all of our baked potatos were not cooked done, & my entire meal was cold. The mushrooms were canned (yuk) on the hamburger steak. ---Their menu does have a good variety. Husband loved the catfish. Service was very slow -- & many others arriving after us were served first. Didn't care for the atmosphere either. Just felt like I was sitting in a big room with waitress in hokey looking cowgirl outfit.
