Cabin Cams, I have enjoyed your life story very much and thank God we have people like you in this country that still believe in patriotism, honor and respect.

I too do not understand the few locals who feel threatened or angry at others who wish to live in this area. Why can't we all get along? With everything going on in the world today -- the violence, terriorism, hatred, war, etc., why would Amercian fight Amercian? That is something that will be our downfall in the end. Having said that, I must respect the opinions of others even if I disagree with them.

I have lived in Georgia for 20 years and my husband's family has been here for generations. We are a big, beautiful melting pot of American life. Our wish someday is to retire to the Blue Ridge area where we own a home. Like bears way, we support all local businesses and business people and very much respect the environment.

I hope you are able to find some a successful resolution to your well problem. You do seem to have the right attitude!

He moved south and met my mom. I was born down there in 1949 and don't feel ashamed of where I was born. I understand Floridians are held responsible for lots of things in the tri-state area. Down there we all made jokes about the "snow birds" that moved down during the winter to get away from the north. And now I heard a new one on me. "Half back." That's someone who moved to Florida from the north. Then moved to north Georgia from Florida. So they moved only half-way back to their original home. Heck, even heard a joke about the locals when I moved here. They were fighting the gorilla farm that was planned for the area. They were afraid the gorillas might escape, marry their women and take their jobs. So everyone jokes about everybody. That's just life.

I was lucky enough to return from Viet Nam alive and in one piece. I did come back paraplegic, paralyzed from the waste down. But I made it back. Unfortunately more than 58,000 of my brothers didn't make it back alive. I had a good friend over there named George. Now he was just a simple country boy. He'd break out in a big Cheshire Cat style grin from ear to ear, and in a soft spoken voice say, "Everybody's got the right to be as big a fool as they wanna be." Wish he'd made it back alive.

I live his saying in his stead. We all make fools of ourselves from time to time. Just some are better versed at it than others. Right before my helicopter hit the ground and exploded into flames I thought just for an instant that maybe enlisting, volunteering for Viet Nam, and volunteering to be a door gunner in a search and rescue helicopter was a real foolish stunt. They even made me sign a waiver that I understood the life expectancy of a door gunner was 27 days. I didn't go over there to kill people. I went to save people. The logo on our squadron's patch said it all, "So that other's may live." That's why I went. But I've never lost sight of my patriotism for my country. And I am blessed. Two years in two different hospitals and many surgeries later I started to regain the feeling in my lower body. Another year in a serious rehab facility and I learned to walk all on my own. Now, 40 years later I can even carefully wade into a clear stream and wave a stick at the fish!

I may bark at a few fools every now and then. But my bark is much worse than my bite, because I know someone else is barking at my foolishness. And I bark at my own foolishness quite frequently.

I don't care if your a Half-Back or a Flor-idiot. You Sir are good people. You seem like a nice down to earth Man that would be fun to sit on the porch sipping a beer telling stories. All we can do is stay true to ourselves. It does not matter what others say about us. We know who we are. We do not have to explain ourselves to any one. All we can do is treat others the way we would like to be treated ourselves.

The rest that do not like us or feel the need to make fun of us can just go right a head. It gives their poor lives some meaning I guess. I sure am not going to lose any sleep over their opinions of me. I have a little Family that I moved up here that I am proud of. My Wife loves me. My Son thinks I am his Hero. Those are the things in Life that put a smile on my face that are real and count for something.

I will go about treating my neighbors and county folks with a genuine smile and a strong hand shake. They can either smile back at me or shake my hand in return. If the don't then I will pray for them. I will pray and ask the good Lord to give them some meaning in their sad lives. If He answers my prayers then maybe someday we could all learn to live in harmony with one another and see the good in people and not so much the differences of where we come/came from. Or better yet...How about appreciate the different cultures and ways of our fellow neighbor. Why can't we learn to get along with each other through respect and a kind heart? It does not have to remain us against them. Not all of us are bad. Just like I am fully aware that not all Locals are bad. There are and always will be a few bad apples in every bunch. A cliche' that is often over used but very true nonetheless.

Anyways CabinCams it is very nice to meet your acquaintance. Hope to chat with you some more in the future. Maybe one day we will run into each other on the outside for a beer or two. Those are the simple pleasures in Life that I look forward to on a daily basis. God bless to each and every one of you!

I have traveled and lived all over the world during the short 60 years of my life. I have seen many other cultures making fun of, and even insulting Americans in many different locals. I moved away from increasing crime and congestion to have a peaceful life here. And I can tell you I have met some fine folks in this area. I've had a complete stranger come running all the way out to my vehicle in a large parking lot just to hand me a loaf of bread I purchased then absent-mindedly walked off and left at the cash register.

Lots of nice folks here, and I've made a lot of friends with locals, or people like me that have moved here. I have one neighbor from Kansas, one from Canada, one from Key West, and one from Marietta. We all get along. I live on Dickey Mountain. George Dickey moved here from North Carolina in 1840 and founded Mineral Bluff. One of his descendants was a world renown scholar, poet, and author. I have 5 of his books. His name was James Dickey. He wrote the book "Deliverance," and played the sheriff who appeared near the end of the movie. There's a big business spin off from that movie. I see T-shirt shops all over selling shirts that say, "Paddle faster, I hear banjo music."

I've got another first-hand story I'd like to tell and it will explain exactly how I understand people can be. I lived in Germany for 4 years, 1972-1976. I was married and the wife was a Den Mother for the Girl Scouts. There was still West Germany - East Germany back then and the communist wall was still up. We signed up to take the "troop train" to Berlin so the Girl Scouts could tour the city and learn the differences of democracy and communism. The train stopped somewhere along the border and switched engines from West German to East German. The West German guards got off and the East German and Russian guards got on and pulled down the shades so you couldn't see out. Berlin is 150 miles into East Germany and behind the iron curtain. The train traveled at night. We arrived in West Berlin and were taken to our hotel. The next morning we were all going on bus tours, then come back to the hotel for dinner. During dinner we all heard a lot of crashing and screeching. We ran outside. The free West Berliners had loaded up a truck with food, clothing, and dry goods and sent it through the chain link fence to their relatives and friends on the communist East Berlin side. But the guards ran in and confiscated everything. We all went back inside the hotel. The next day we did the same tour thing and came back to the hotel for dinner. There was another episode of crashing and screeching. We all ran outside. The communist East Berlin guards had loaded the truck up with trash, garbage, dead animals, and human waste, and sent it back across to the free West Berlin side. The guards were all laughing and pointing their rifles at everyone. We ran back inside the hotel. The next day was our last. We packed our bags and they were stored by the hotel. We would go out on tour, then return to the hotel for dinner, then be taken by bus back to the train station for the trip back to West Germany. When we were leaving the hotel for our tour, there were a bunch of workers sawing and painting plywood. We guessed they were going to patch the hole in the fence. When we returned to the hotel for dinner, what they had built was a large 20X30 foot billboard that faced the communist East Berlin side. In 1 foot tall letters it said, "Each country gives what they have."

That was in 1974, but to this day I understand that sign, and I replace the word "country" with "person" when dealing with people. All we can do is give what we have. Some give good, some give bad. That will never change. I just try to give good from inside me as much as I can. And when I receive bad from someone, I just understand that they can't really help it, it's all they got inside.

My UGA Agriculture Feed and Water Testing Lab report came back today and my water well has "Unacceptable" bacteria levels. Meeting my attorney in the morning. Guess it's time to try and get that company to give some good for a change.

I knew it was going to come back with a bad report. How could it not? Good luck my friend. I think you have this case in the bag and it has not even started yet. Your Lawyer ought to have fun with this one.

Question...Do they know you are upset with them? Or do they not have a clue yet? If you are getting your Lawyer involved from here on out it would be better to keep any conversations between the two of you from here on out to bare minimum. I'm sure you know all of that though.

I met with the attorney yesterday. She is going to research "court precedent" in Fannin and Union to see what previous cases exist. She is also researching 12-5-134 of the Georgia Code which states it is illegal to "introduce surface water into a drinking water well." There are several other sections of Georgia water well codes she said they have violated. These are "state laws" not county codes. So it could be deep water for them in the near future.

After I paid all the bills in full on 6/12, and then a couple hours later received a phone call demanding more money, I have not had any contact with the company, and the attorney told me it would be best if she dealt with the company from here on out.

I just checked the TVA pumping schedule and they aren't pumping until 4PM. I hear the trout calling my name from the river, so it's off to wave the fly rod at them!
