Default Lake Blue Ridge drawdown

TVA wants public input for lake drawdown date - The News Observer - News

The TVA is targeting three optional dates to draw down the lake for the dam repair, mid-July, 8/1, or 9/1.

According to this article, the road going over the dam will be closed for approximately 2 years while the work is being completed.

Shall we gleen from that, that the lake level will be down for the same period of time as well?

Man I am just really bummed that they are going to close down the road crossing the Dam for 2 years. That is a LONG time. I love driving across that bridge. It is a great view. I sometimes take that way even if it is out of my way so I can take in the view.

I don't know. Good question. I can't believe they did not put the time in the article. I believe though if you actually get the paper...from what I remember the full article on it said the time. I already read the paper and it is gone by now. You can call the New Observer and ask them. I am sure they will tell you. I have called them many times for Info and usually get the answer to what I'm looking for.

I know this is a must do. However, how low are they going to go on the lake? Is there still going to be a lake to use? How much of an impact is this process going to have on the lower Toccoa? Will the river rise higher than it usually does when the dam is open? Is this something our economy can handle right now? And why would they start the project in the middle of the summer when the lake is slammed? I am very concerned.

Does anyone know what the final decision was on the project? Meaning exactly when it is they plan to start it all?
