Default 4th of July fireworks?

Where is the best place in Blue Ridge for fireworks viewing for the 4th of July? I think they have them at the lake, but we don't have a boat. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You can go down to the Marina and view them. You need to get there early though if you want a good parking space, otherwise you will have to walk down.We ended up going to Blairsville last year, they put on a decent show.I wanted to watch the ones in Blue Ridge but I wanted to be able to pitch chairs by my truck other than carry a cooler and chairs down to the Marina. We spent the night at the B.R. Comfort Inn and when we got back from the fireworks in Blairsville, the staff said we could have just sat outside the hotel and watched the ones from the Marina.

The best best place is to get to the marina early, bring a wagon for the kids and stuff it full of food and drink if you can, commit to blowing another $30 while your there on over priced food and drink, and get down near the docks...you can just about be under the fire works going off. Live a little.

Wife and I have viewed the Lake Blue Ridge fireworks from near the Lake Blue Ridge Dam. If you arrive early the parking is not too bad along one side of the roadway. It would be good idea to bring some chairs, insect repellent, some rain gear (it always seems to storm on fireworks night) and a flashlight.

Wife has been to McCaysville for their fireworks the last few years. I believe these fireworks are set off from 'Potato Hill'. I suggest checking with a knowledgeable local person re the McCaysville fireworks as to exact date and location.

Any chance that you can see these fireworks from the top of Rich Mountain/Laurel Ridge Area?

We always watch them from the boat launch at Morganton Point. Good views.

Folks, I am far away from the Fannin County (GA) area, and I do not travel with Fannin County topographic maps. My computer firewall prevents downloading many of the maps due to file size and the poor internet connection available at my work location.

I suggest going to Topographic Maps & Aerial Photos for United States & Canada (or similar sites) to obtain the corret topographic map showing the points in question; ie, Blue Ridge Marina, Potato Hill and Rich Mtn/Laurel Ridge area. You should add a minimum of 100-ft to the Blue Ridge Marina location for the aerial fireworks displays. You then merely connect the points as line-of-sight vision and determine if there is higher elevation blocking your view of the fireworks display.

As for viewing off Morganton Point, this is bit too close for me as the neck is not as limber as in former years.........lol. The noise is bit heavy at Morganton Point for me as well. We each have our personal preferences. Wherever you view the fireworks the time spent outdoors is priceless.

the veiw from the marina is breathtaking and the thunder off the mountains adds to the experience! its worth a little walk . you dont want to park to close or getting out after the show will be slow unless you dont mind hangin out a bit latter. no doubt the display can be seen from muliple locations.alot of the vendors are chaitible, so its all good. ive been to a lot of home town fourths and the one at the lake was the best by far. also a good chance to reflect on just how great it is to live free. hopefully that will last another 233 years.
