Question Swim Lessons in Blue Ridge

Does anyone know any place in the Blue Ridge area that offers infant swim/water survival lessons? I have a 9 month old that I am anxious to get trained.

I know they give swimming lessons in Blue Ridge at the public park where the Public Pool is. It is down the road not far from Blue Ridge First Baptist Church. I took my Son last year for swimming lessons there for $25 dollars. They did a great job with him...but he was 4 years old. I do not remember them giving lessons for any kids 9 months old. That is pretty young. I am not saying they don't but I never saw any kids there close to being that young. I got all my information about swimming lessons by calling the Chamber of Commerce.

I know they give swimming lesson in Murphy North Carolina by their public park as well. Just make some calls and I am sure you can get the information you need. There are people in the phone book that give private lessons as well that may be more what your looking for at that age.

OK I found out that they DO NOT offer lesson to kids that young at the Public pool. They have to be at least 4 to 5 years of age. Any younger and they will not give the lessons. I talked to my friend who's Wife is best friends with someone who works for the Chamber of Commerce and She said She is not aware of lessons for infants or kids under the age of 4 in our county. At least not any organized groups. Like I said in my previous post. You may have a real hard time finding someone. Your best bet is to look for private lessons or take your infant child to a pool you trust yourself and teach him/her yourself. That is what i did with my own Son starting at the age of 2 years old.

It went well because your child is not going to trust anyone better than you and feel as comfortable as they would with you. By doing that my Son was not scared in the least when I started him in some of the advanced lesson at the public pool with the instructors they had.

If there is enough demand I bet I could get my brother in law up here to teach. He's tought infant/child swimming lessons in Saint Petersburg FL. for years. He's good with the parents too which is very important when they see their x month old baby working in the water. If 3-5 parents seriously wanted their children to learn....

Thanks for the replies. I figured he'd have to be older. I might have to hit the public pool and teach him myself. We're water people, so I figure better safe than sorry since we live on the Toccoa.

Yeah like I said...That is what I did with my own Son. It was a blast doing it myself with him and my Wife. It made the lessons a fun time and a great excuse to spend quality time with the 2 most important people in my Life. If I had to do it over again I would do it the exact same way.
