![]() I am absolutely dumbfounded by the absurdity of the fact that the Open Arm Children’s Shelter is being splashed across the newspaper and on a huge sign at the location. Why are these developers practically handing the door key to the parents of the children that the authorities have taken? This facility is designed as a "safe haven" for these unfortunate children. This place is supposed to be a secret sanctuary to give these children a secure location to stay while the lawyers and the courts decide on what would be in the children's best interest. Are the caretakers going to be issued guns for protection? Do any of the people who are developing and administrating this project have any clue of what enraged, strung out parents are capable of? But I must have forgotten that we don't have a drug problem in this county. I guess I must be imagining the pictures of the criminals that I see in the newspaper nearly every week. Get real!!! These people are dangerous individuals who gave up the right to their children the moment that they begin to manufacture drugs, use drugs, physically or sexually abuse their children. These people put their children in danger by their actions and now members of the community who were intending to put the children in a safe environment have endangered the children as well. Why? Is it just so a couple of people could get their name in the paper? There is a reason it’s called a "safe house"! I can only hope that they have a state-of-the-art security and monitoring system to ensure the well being of these kids in their unfortunate circumstances. ![]() ![]() |

Yeah.. Let's coddle all the drug users and n'er do wells around here when they show in court time after time ("they just can't help themselves"), while scorning all those damn "outsiders" who want to order an evil glass of wine or mixed drink with their nice dinner or make positive change... Sure makes sense to me... No better than some inner city ghetto attitudes about THEIR drug problems - and at least the inner city ghettos aren't typically in denial about what's going on there like many in this community are...

Well I'm sure glad that the Fannin Sentinel pointed out exactly which road the angered parents can go to find their child that was taken by court order. Way to go there guys! Open Arms might as well just dispense a key to the parents of every child they take in.
