i noticed that also on my last bill from amacalola elec. it was about double from previous months. i thought maybe we had left something on when we pulled out the last time.( be back in two weeks yipee!!) i have heard before that the elec. comp. does not read the meter every month, but averages your bill out, then when they do actually read the meter, two maybe three times a year, an ajustment is made on your bill. it makes it a little easier for them not to run all over the mountains every month and probably less expensive in the long run. so a $30 or $40 bump is only a few $$ more per month spread out. cowboy, just a guess and maybe someone else knows a bit more. worth checking out though. i know we all try to conserve as much as possible. jwb

I have been tracking my electrcal usage for over a year now and find that my bill from Amicalola EMC reflects the exact readings that I have been recording from my meter every month. The last bill I received (Jan usage)seemed to be no more than what I paid per KWH. You can go online to see what your record has been from month to month to see if it has gone up. Maybe I am on a different billing cycle from the others who have noticed a change or getting power from a different company.
I will keep tracking.

In a "co-op" I believe we are all shareholders in the electric company like Tri-State. Therefore when the company reaps a profit we should all be getting a share of the profits made. Greystone power co-op in the Atlanta area got in a wee bit of trouble a few years back for NOT sharing in the wealth. I seriously doubt any of us will see checks coming our way either.

Hi Guys,
If you are with Amicalola EMC they may have moved you to a different rate category, they are doing it to all residential cabins they believe are vacation rentals. On the top of your bill under "rate" there is a number. 1 is residential, 4 is general. If you have a 4 you are paying double or more the residential rate. If you are not a vacation rental, then call AEMC. While the big wigs at the company are making these wonderful decisions, the ladies that work at the office are extremely helpful. (I wish THEY would be put in charge!) |

thanks for the info mom. will check the next bill for the category number. if your cabin is on the "rental" cant you write it off as business expence or of course pass it on to the consumer. its bad enough we cant get any homestead ex. anyone figure a way around that one. besides leaving the wife here.
