Well its nice to see those "NO ALCOHOL" signs beginning to materialize around the county. My only question is how soon before the "NO WORK" signs begin to appear as well? Oh and I'll raise you one more, when are the "NO ALTERNATIVE" signs arriving.

One was at the flower place near Akins funeral home. Its a small sign. Some acquaintances have reported to me as having seen other signs in various other parts of the county. I'll try and get confirmation on those. Has any one else heard the "drums of war" beginning to sound as far as the opposition goes? I've heard tells of them trying to organize meetings. Didn't know if anyone else has heard anything.

This isn't going to be easy from what I'm hearing. Everybody needs to get out & vote on this one or we'll lose it. It's easy in Fannin (no lines, pre-voting, etc.) so there's no excuse. |

I really enjoyed the full page ad for the Nov 6th referendum in the Fannin Sentinel. I wonder how long before the opposition tries something likewise? Personally I'm still waiting for someone from the opposition to actually answer my original question: What is the alternative?

I hope that after November 6th of this year that Fannin County isn't gonna be stuck on stupid.
Another point of interest is why is it that only the full page pro-alcohol ads are being printed in the Fannin Sentinel and not the News Observer? If anyone has a clue I would love to know the reason. Last edited by Amos and Andy : 09-14-2007 at 01:56 PM. |

Maybe the alternative is getting the Vote No folks, all good people, to begin looking at the facts. And changing their minds.

Looks like Copperhill is catching a clue and deciding to do what Fannin County should have done.

Ok I think I may have stumbled upon this county's answer to what the alternative is. Howie Bruce in the December 21, 2007 edition of the News Observer said,” Taxes in the unincorporated part of the county is generated almost exclusively from rental cabins." So here is my thought on what our local leaders plan is:
1. Get tourist to come to Fannin County and rent a cabin and collect the tax money. 2. Tell the tourist about the wonderful restaurants and attractions in the newly revitalized downtown Copperhill. 3. Post numerous police officers on the Copperhill/McCaysville line to apprehend the entire inebriated tourist groups, there by generating and collecting new tax revenue. |
