Thumbs up Re: Old Cabin Grill Restaurant

Brittany and I went to Tin Loong's last night and had the Hibachi dinner. It was DEEEElicious. AND we had a beer and some sake with our meal! HooRAY! We eyeballed the huge buffet but decided it could wait till another time. We will be going back for sure! Oh...they do sell beers other than Bud and Miller. Nice! If you like sushi like I like sushi...oh, oh, oh what a deal. Wait...that could be a song! But seriously folks Tin Loong's has a great variety of sushi if you like to eat stuff that is just barely dead.

We just got back from trying the Tin Loong buffet and wish we had never even bothered.I hate to bash a place but the food was horrible and the fly's were not helping either. We talked with the floor manager(who was very nice)and told her about the quality of the food and she fixed our meal ticket for us.The China #1 restaurant serves up better tasting food than this.I wish we would have tried something besides the buffet but by that time,we were ready to leave.I suggest not doing the buffet.

The food was so-so. My husband loved the sushi, and the buffet had a large selection. Just kind of blah. I would go back though. Just hope we get a smarter server next time.

Yeah I have been 4 times now. 2 times the food buffet was excellent. My whole Family enjoyed it very much...and My Wife is a VERY picky eater. I was actually shocked that She did not have anything bad to say about the food. 1 time the food was OK. Meaning some of it was over cooked. Another time it was not so good. Messy and unlabeled.

So I would not let 1 bad visit steer you away. Like all new restaurants...it takes a while for them to get everything ironed out. Give them a few tries before you make a final judgement. Just my suggestion.

Now I do have to agree on the servers. I am not going to say that all of them are bad because that would not be fair because I have not had all of them serve me yet. LOL

3 times out of the 4 I went the servers seemed to not have a clue...which was sad for a server that was handling a party eating from the Food Buffet. I mean how hard is it to just make sure your drinks are full and come back to your table and take away the dirty dishes? I guess it is really hard for some of them because the ones I delt with did not do a very good job. One of the servers I had did an excellent job. One server when asked what their hours were replied that he wasn't sure. Instead of going and finding out for sure he answered us with a guess of what he thought the hours were...and after checking ourselves as we were leaving...He was WRONG. LMAO.

In response to what CowboyzAdam said,"I would not let 1 bad visit steer you away",we have eaten at the one in Ellijay and the one that use to be in the Ingles parking lot and both of those times were not very good either. We decided to give them another try, thinking maybe the quality of the food had gotten better.

I see that others had something to say about the employee's.When we were being seated the young lady took us to the back and put us at a center table,we asked her if we could have a booth instead, seeing as there were a few booths left. This young lady copped an attitude and snatched up the menus and then took us to a booth. It's funny though, after we spoke with the floor manager about it,the young lady was then asking people if they wanted a booth or a table(never bothered to ask us if we wanted a choice). It also seemed to us that alot of these young kids were a little confused about what to do(which I can understand on some level).I guess it will take time for things to start clicking around there.

Well then I guess you have given it a fair chance and Tin Loong is just not for you. I understand. There are places up here that I have read people saying is out of this world and great and I have found not very good at all to me. That is what makes us all different. Some times it is a hit or miss situation and other times it is just a matter of taste. I just know you have to be disappointed. We have been waiting for some new places to open up to eat at instead of all the same usual stuff...and when they finally open one up you find that you do not like it.

Have you tried the Hibachi grill yet? I hear it is good. If not I hope when they finally do get around to opening up the next new place you will find that you enjoy it a lot better.

I wasnt thrilled by the Tin but the food appeared to be the same dependable buffet food at all of them....nothing to jump up and down about when I visited. Wasnt clearly marked. Waitstaff was ok. I was hoping for something better. I think the buffet was badly designed, I cant imagine going there on a busy buffet night.

We tried the Tin Loong last week. We went for the buffet. After looking at it, I thought that we had found a new place for us to eat regularly... a lot of different choices, especially for me, which is sometimes hard for me to come by (I only eat seafood, no other meat, no, not even chicken). So I was very happy to see fried fish, salmon, and at least 3 different shrimp dishes, not to mention veggies and other goodies. Well, after EATING the food, we quickly realized that this buffet was just not what it initially appeared to be. My meat-eating spouse agreed with his meat entrees too. The food was quite flavorless; and we are not extremely picky eaters, so if we were not impressed, then it was really quite bland. And I did try as many things as I could (even things like the potato salad, cole slaw, deserts, etc), hoping for SOMETHING that would stand out. Unfortunately, nothing did. But the worse thing was when I went to get the fried shrimp.....only a few things were labeled, and the fried shrimp was one of the labeled items, so I thought I was safe. Well, they got the fried chicken pieces switched with the fried shrimp, and so I unknowingly bit into chicken, instead of shrimp! It was like someone earlier had said about them not labeling the food...it was a good thing that I don't eat chicken out of choice, and not have some allergic reaction, or else I would have been in serious trouble! It remained that way until I told one of the ladies that worked there, and she then switched the items to where they should be. But many things were not labeled at all, and some were real mysteries as to what they looked like. Not labeling the food is just not a good idea at all...and MISlabeling the food is even worse! Our waitress was nice, but was obviously not experienced. Just picking up the plates seemed to be more than she could handle, and it wasn't like we used many. Another lady working there refilled the water glasses to help out (one refill). So, we are not impressed at all. We may go back MUCH later, to see if they have ironed out some of the problems, but it would take a LOT to get that food to taste better. Just no flavor. LOTS of food, but the taste buds are not happy at all. Maybe the hibachi or other selections are good, but the buffet was a loss...our opinion.
