Default 4th of July in Blue Ridge

A fireworks celebration will be at Lake Blue Ridge on Friday the 4th.There will be barbeque and live music from 4 to 6pm at the Blue Ridge Marina.

July 5th-Is suppose to be The Old Timer's celebration and parade beginning at 10am Saturday. There will also be arts and crafts, food, games, music and lots of family atmosphere.

We were undecided about coming up until Saturday.I spoke with Nathan that owns the Comfort Inn & Suite and he booked us a room.I didn't think we would even have a shot at getting a room this late.

I'm still undecided about where to go and watch the fireworks.I've heard that Meeks Park in Blairsville puts on a good show.Does anybody know where you would go around Lake Blue Ridge to see the show?

Some people I know spend the afternoon at the marina and stay for the fireworks. The best place to watch is in a boat on the lake. Many years ago I watched the fireworks from Morganton Point near the beach. Parking was an issue then so get there early.

Thanks for the info Steve.I hadn't planned on dragging a boat up but you're right, that would be the best spot.

Make sure you know where you are going after the show if you take your boat. There have been a couple hundred boats out there in the past and it is a zoo when everyone leaves at the same time. Also, the lake will be real dark this weekend with no moon.

I'll be in the white bow rider

Be sure to have your boat all-legal. There's a new DNR guy on the lake that's, ahem, 'strict'. Plus, they always circle the regatta like a shark on a school of fish and always pluck at least one out for inspection on the race home after the show. I like to hang back and watch the dock wars after the show; they can be pretty impressive.
