Well I've heard from a little birdie that the Blue Ridge City Council would be bringing beer and wine by the drink up for a vote either this month or next. From my source I was told that as of now they have 4 council members for the measure and 1 against. If this is true it is all well and good because ultimately the city is where the businesses are and where the infrastructure is to support the growth brought about by beer and wine by the drink. Has anyone else heard of this? Any additional information to offer?

Last night at the opening party for the new Repaz restaurant (fabulous food & setting!), I heard that first there will be a rollback on the ban on "wine tasting" events. Then the City of Blue Ridge will be pouring beer & wine (only) within the year. I also heard that the ordinance will be crafted to keep it as "mom-&-pop" as possible.
All made possible because a crucial teetotaler is out of the picture, and thanks to the pro-small-business soldiers who continue to fight behind the scenes. Who would have thought the city would beat the county out of the Stone Age? |

Does anyone know if the beer and wine pouring ordinance is passed by B.R. city council does the distance from churches and schools come into effect. This may hurt a few places that would like to serve libations.
