Default Windsurfing Anyone?

I am a windsurfer and I wonder...are there any windsurfers here in Blue ridge or surrounding areas that frequent the lake? I love to surf and I was thinking of teaching my 9 year old son this summer! We will be moving up this summer and I about to check my equipment to see if every thing is working. I may need a new sail. Is there anywhere up your way that sells this stuff or should I purchase before I move up your way?

I don't windsurf, so I'm no expert, but my wife is an expert shopper and she hasn't seen any sales of sails, so you may be better off buying down there. On the other hand, Atlanta isn't that far away and certainly there is a store there that sell windsurfing supplies.

I don't know if you have ever windsurfed on Lake Blue Ridge. It is a mountain lake and the winds shift directions frequently. Add to this all of the trees and you will find you need to be in wide open water away from shore to catch any wind. The open water near the marina and the Morganton Beach will probably be your best bet.

I have one of the only 4-5 sailboats on the lake. During the summer it will be tough finding a good wind on a typical hot day.
