Default Re: Downtown cam has a new home!

Even though I prefer the new park views and town overviews w/ the mtns in the bkgd (I think it will shine for Light Up Blue Ridge, Arts in the Park, etc.), I agree with some of your points copperheadjohn.

I think CabinFever98 said someting about a new cam coming down-that-way. Also, it seems the blueridgelakecam.com didn't make it through that storm. Check out the raindrops in that last shot; that's not debris on the water. I still need to haul it up here and check it out, but it powers up dang it and the Ethernet is solid to the dock so my gut tells me it's shot. Plus I heard the strike and the zap kicked-off everything fine up here. Dang it! I know, webcam on a floating dock...I'm thinking maybe all POE to the dock now (surrounded by those noodle things that always float up, dipped in tons of tar)...so def a new cam coming. What a hobby, about the same as crashing RC airplanes every w/e I guess.

SO, if the manufacturer warranties/repairs the old dock cam w/in reason, I'd be more than willing to "co-op" it to a merchant like the main downtown cam. If this transpires, I think I would just expand blueridgewebcam.com to show the different views...pretty cool.

Thanks Bugman & BR Cabin!

ADDED: turns out the storm just blew 2 ports on my switch between here and the lake. The other 2 ports are fine so that cam should be back online soon. I needed to clean the dead bugs out of the dome anyway. I guess I can stop coming up with ideas of how to explain to the wife that I needed to plunk down another $2K on a cam while I waited for this one to come back from warranty work. I'd still be willing to co-op another downtown spot though. If it was the perfect location.
