Re: Temperance Movement Organizes!
Well I was born and raised here so I guess that entitles me shoot my mouth off a little bit more than I should. The biggest problem I have with the "Temperance Movement" is that they haven't answered my original question of: What is the alternative? Instead of coming up with innovative solutions to help the tourism industry thrive and keep taxes low they resolve to cheap demagoguery and outright misinformation (gasp... lying) about alcohol. They act as if it is some sign of end times and that the world will go to hell in a hand basket if it is passed. Trust me I have nothing against the churches and such. Heck, I proudly attend one and am at peace with my religious convictions. It just makes me mad when people use religion to distort the truth and even invent it for their own personal reasons. I believe the sale of alcohol should be a personal choice for the individual consumer. Allow food services to sell it to customers who wish it. There will not be a rule that says that I have to buy a margarita. Heck most of the time I order water with most of my meals. I just think that we are losing our right to personal choice, and it hurts me that its churches that are leading the fight against personal freedom.
