Default Re: Temperance Movement Organizes!

Well the way I look at it no matter what the outcome of the vote is next month I'm still going to be able to purchase my wine or beer at Ingles or some other package store. The Nov 6th vote doesn't change that fact for me. The only real potential loser in all of this are the tourist. They are the ones demanding to have beer and wine in our restaurants.
Its always struck me funny as a native of Fannin County at how people around here look a gift horse in the mouth. People complain about "half backs" from Florida moving into the area, yet these are the very people that has driven the housing boom of recent years. Now with manufacturing jobs no longer a viable source of income in the region people must rely on tourism as their main source of income. However, it's ok to have tourist but we just don't really want to cater to their wishes. If they don't like our town then they can just leave. Well with that archaic attitude the Temperance Movement may just get their wish. They may drive all of the tourist and Floridians to other counties that are willing to meet their demands.
Then again they just may establish themselves here and assimilate themselves into the population and soon become the political leaders. People soon forget that Fannin is an aging community. Fewer jobs mean younger citizens must leave to find work elsewhere, and with that the population demographic changes.

Either way Nov 7th I'm having a beer. Cheers to you all.
